Just Random

Good news! Kai Yi mum decided to...*beat drums please* raised my pay cause she admitted that...it is really too low. I was like, "huh? LOL?" Sudden change of heart? Hmmm. She also said that next year she needed me to teach the younger brother also. If possible, she would like me to dine with them so I can continued teaching into the evening. (How is the food? She said you dine with them before. =x)

After rushing through the corrections and issuing of homework, I was shocked to find...

I FORGOT TO BRING THAT POKEMON PACK, along with the black notebook.
(Must have been left on the study desk when I took the photograph yesterday. Grrr...)

Dashed down to the wet market opposite the McDonald and started searching for the elusive cards. After walking a big round the hub, I found a small shop (the owners are youngsters gambling on the table right behind the shop @_@). Quickly just grabbed two packages and gave a sigh of relief. Woooo!

I hide the packets carefully in my bag and strolled happily to his house (with a few jumps here and there). Then I asked him, "do you remember what Teacher promised you?" He nodded with a smile and say, "pokemon cards leh?"

I whipped it out and in that instant, time seemed to come to a halt (ok, I exaggerated this part). He beamed with his toothy smile and hugged me! Then after he claimed his rightful heir to the cards, he hummed a song which I never heard of. (Who cares, as long he is happy can liao.)

Managed to get things much faster cause I was holding another pack and say, "If you want this second pack, do your corrections and exercises first." Each time I sensed he started to lose concentration, I will wave the pack of cards in front of him. Haha. I have never seen that fire of determination in his eyes for a long time.

Hastily give him some homework(Having another lesson on wednesday, don't want to overload him) after he gives yawns(he is tired which also means he is going to switch off liao). Paid $10 back to the dad.

I discovered his dad softer side when I saw him feeding him with the chicken rice before I teach. He was hurrying him to finish the food which I reassured that I came early after all and he can take his time to finish his food. Afterall, he is just a happy kid! =D

Nth much. Spent around 1  hour milling around the jurong entertainment centre to find that pokemon card. Woo! Tomorrow going meet him liao! ^^

Nothing to report cause no lessons today. I was surprised to see rs today! Woot! Talking about coincidence and fate. =p As usual, went to jia hao house and talk crabs...i mean craps. Haha.

What a tiring long day! Can you imagine just giving lessons just on picture descriptions and reading for 4 hours? I am ok with it. But the kids are bored to tears. Zi Wei is still fine with it. Trash talk with him about warcraft and how to install, etc...

Kai Yi mum called me halfway when I am teaching. She wanted me to arrive earlier so she can bring him to Gek Poh(so far! Got things to buy over there meh?). Baked a quick apology that I am having a class before hers, sprinkled with a toss of false tone of disappointment. She seemed to digest it without any hint of doubts at all. Splendid! =p

Kai Yi was muttering something like having to submit science reports and headaches when I arrived. Managed to go through all the science homework + some of the grammer before I issued more homework to his dismay. I got to win his heart asap to make him commit to his work. Punishments do work. But I guess their parents has really done their part?

Hurried back before I started late, which mean I will have to eat their sleeping time also. Yl managed to express herself better than her brother. Shouldn't be a problem unless she is facing words she has never seen before. As usual, reassured their mum they are well prepared for the coming oral examinations so they would not face immense pressure before the day of examinations.

Managed to dig some information on their cousin from Kai Yi. Her parents are rich but they kinda have some sort of arguments which couldn't be resolved? Doesn't they know how much psychological impact this will have on a child? Hope they can compromised on some issues for the sake of their child, the innocent dove flying in the dark stormy skies...

Zi Wei...Finally I have a way around him. Talking about games like warcraft pique his interest up! Like other students, I have promised to buy him one set if he get band 1 (for him shouldn't be a problem at all, getting ready to book that set liao...)

Went to Kai Yi house to find him missing again. After marking his hastily done composition, he turned up and urged me to join him in match of badminton. As a caring teacher, I agreed much to his delight. Haha.

After a strenous match, head back to Zi Wei house to tutor yl. Her grammer sibei zai, just like her brother. But vocabulary wise, much need to be done.

Finally, rs mum replied and give a green light for him to visit the zoo. Hee! I will pinch his cheek all the way to the zoo and back! YEAH! =D

Loading all the goodies and presents into respective boxes now. If smile is priceless, the expenses spent on them is nothing at all. Thanks for coming to design those packages and gifts with me! Nights. =>

Hee! How should I begin? I was greeted by rs himself who opened the door for me. Grinning, he asked me, "Have you bought pokemon cards for me?" I was like, Opps...Next Monday can? My fault. =x. Luckily, he just nodded and rushed into the kitchen. Phew.

As per normal, he finished his homework as instructed and was rewarded with candy from me. I happened to chance on a vocabulary question that wrote,

The soldiers marched __________ into the parade.

1) smartly
2) sadly
3) faithfully
4) bravely

He acted them out! I was like, whao! Haha. He can be a actor!

Play some new game introduced by him where you use a pen and "shoot" it with a finger at the tip of the pen. He won most of the time. (I lose on purpose. =x)

His tiredness slowly overcame him just a few minutes before the lesson ends. Went into a discussion what he can see in a zoo and he replied with enthusiasm about sea lions. A great day today with more to come tomorrow!

Haha. Finally the day has came...teaching the subject I will be able to shut my eyes doing, Mathematics. (Ok, that is a bit of exaggeration but it still beats teaching English. Better not let Miss Chua doesn't see this =x).

The exam papers that Zi Wei mum bought was way way much difficult than what will be tested. I have to resort to alegbra to solve it. After solving it, I tried to explain using graphs and lengthy descriptions what each step is meant for. He just keep nodding his head which implies either he get it or just it get over with.

That was one particularly number pattern which has intrigued me for 30 minutes. I was like, how can a p4 question, freeze me so long? Luckily the weather is hot. So in an instant, sent smses to Jia Hao, Wai Hon and you. Both of them come with the same answer stating that the answer sheet is wrong. I got to take my hat off to them for solving a problem sum inside a army camp. Haha.

Copied down their exam slots. I will find a way to make it appear permanent on this blog. Tomorrow going collect $$$, which means rs mum will be there? Hope so, let's keep our fingers crossed...
Primary two MAX RESULTS! cd. Whao. It looks like having outside tuition classes, private tuition and doing top primary school exam papers is definitely not enough. Guess the final push to band 1 is really up to them.

This is the number pattern question...Answer sheet wrote 60. =G

Another typical scorching sunny day. What is happening to the weather? Managed to arrive at Kai Yi house 30 minutes earlier as usual. He was playing with his PS1, "Metal Gear". I, well, as a understanding teacher tried to assist so he can finish the game faster by marking his books while he played happily...

His Maths topic on average number was weak. So I have to spent like 1 hour explaining and marking his papers. I have to go through great length to explain how to write composition smoothly so it doesn't look like a normal English summary which may be useful much much later part in his studies. His mum was, well you know, scolding someone, whom I am not sure, since I am teaching in another room. I can sense troubles brewing since her younger son is not home at the expected hour when I am going to leave.

Kai Yi mentioned he can't make it on Wednesday since he has librarian duties to fulfil and I forgot to mention it to her so I went back...to find Kai Yi and his younger brother in tears. (I guess you and I know the rest of the story).

After hastily arranged the changes in schedule, I rushed to rs house. He was playing with the Besta electronic dictionary. Haha. I have found out how to get his absolute attention. This includes making him happy such as making funny faces, playing tic tac toe and many others...It is useless to try to teach when he is tired. Hee. Funny kid. Have a fruitful session with him today. He only got 3 questions out of 16 grammar questions wrong when tested on the spot.

I said if you get band 1 for Maths, I will buy for you pokemon games. Then he said, "But Teacher Yvonne say get band 2 for Maths can liao." I tried to convince that I am a teacher also, so he have to listen to me. Then he replied promptly, "Then I get band 3 lor, you want band 1 and Teacher Yvonne want band 2 ma..." I immediately @_@ on the spot.

He was excited when I mentioned your intention of fetching him to the zoo. But I have to get his parents consent 1st. He was grinning all along with his front tooth beaming brightly. (Not because of the light). Anyway, drink more water. Take care of your health too. Nite. =D

Bought grape flavoured sweets as you suggested. Haha. A hit with Kai Yi who promptly helped himself to 5 of them.

Took by rs himself. It is just like an old game of flipping rubber but you flip magnets in this case.

A pact made. Haha. =D

Finally got my computer back! Looking back, I wondered how I managed to survive without it for a week. Haha.

In a summary, I dunno yl have a nickname called Fuji Tofu...LoL! I was like, "do you write that nick in your exam papers also?" she nodded...oO|||

A hectic Thursday for me, went to Zi Wei house to tutor him til 5pm. Then sneak back to Kai Yi house to make sure he was doing his homework as I have assigned. You smsed me at 4:45pm whether I am teaching Kai Yi today, any reason why?

His mum was pleased to meet me(free tutoring leh). I was disappointed that he only did 2 questions out of the ten pages I have given...But guess what? His mum suddenly was diagnosed with gastric pain so he volunteered to take a wheelchair out and wheeled his mum all the way to the clinic(I followed cause I don't think it is quite right to stay if their parents are not around).

He may be playful but he is really filial to his mum. After ensuring they reached the clinic(why is it called a hospital? LoL), rushed back to Zi Wei house again to tutor his sister, yl. Her voice was so sharp that my ear went ringing after that. Rushed through all the examination papers that her mum bought. Sometimes got to resort to explain in Chinese cause she don't really understand the meanings of the word.

They got their exam timetable liao. Their mum requested to add an extra day for intensive oral training and one more subject for Zi Wei, Mathematics. That means I have to...

Rong Shen has been getting his homework done as usual. But I found out that his mum has been helping in and he don't understand some of the concepts too. This is troubling cause I tend to go through the questions which he got it wrong and not the right ones.

I will be compiling all the exam timetables soon. So far, only Rong Shen hasn't got his timetable. With their parents expectation of 90+++ for their results, I guess I have to think of some intensive tutoring programs. With only like 20+ days away, I guess I have to work out a miracle. =X

Managed to reach 6.30pm as promised despite the heavy traffic. His mum was preparing dinner for them. I decided to went through with him Science and English again. His way of answering was like anyhow answer which forced me to drill him hard in the head. He managed to get all the answers which I want after that. I just hate people who have a bright brain but under utilising it. So, I give him heaps and heaps of homework...as a punishment and preparation for impending examination.

He got his exam timetable!
23 Oct - EL Paper 2
24 Oct - Maths
29 Oct - MT Paper 2
30 Oct - Science
31 Oct - HMT (Paper 1&2)

Stressed! Still got one more months to go...
